A: ASCEND stands for Applied Skills for Career Experience, Networking and Development.

Q: Who participates in ASCEND? 
A: Beginning with the incoming freshmen class of the Academic Year 2026/27, ASCEND is for every undergraduate bachelor degree-seeking student.

Q: Is it expected that every student participate in ASCEND? 
A: Yes, starting with the incoming freshmen class of the Academic Year 2026/27, it is the expectation that every undergraduate bachelor degree-seeking student will complete an experiential learning before graduation.

Q: What are considered approved experiential learning opportunities through ASCEND? 
A: Approved experiences may include, but are not limited to, internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, clinicals, service-learning, study abroad, leadership experiences, or other university-approved experiential learning opportunities. Students should work with their academic advisor to identify approved opportunities that align with their academic and career goals.
