Accreditation Status and Licensing Information

The Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program is accredited by theÌýAccreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education; 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814; 301.652.2682; . Graduates of the program will be able to sit for the national certification examination administered by theÌý. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).

All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico require Occupational Therapists to be licensed. To learn more, visit the . Licensure requirements generally include an entry level academic degree and certification from the . Some states will have further requirements such as background checks, ethics training courses, etc. It is the applicant's responsibility to inquire about licensing and fieldwork requirements prior to enrolling in the OTD program.

ÒùÆÞÉç makes every effort to ensure information about educational requirements for licensure or certification information is current, however, state requirements may change. At this time, we believe that the OTD program meets the educational requirements for licensure as an OT in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Some states might not license, nor fieldworkÌý sites accept individuals with prior criminal records. A Federal Bureau of Investigation background check will be required of all students as stipulated by fieldwork site agreements. A felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state license.
