Chemical Engineering Team Wins Soccer Tournament
Decemeber 2009: CES(Awesome Chemical Engineering Squad) team composed of Ammar Al-Ammar, Justin McIntyre, Mike Flannagan, Rick Hausman, Tilak Gullinkala, Jinglong Liu, Nima Hakimelahi, and Xiaoru Wang won the 2009 fall intramural indoor soccer tournament. Congratulations!

Professor Saleh Jabarin gives Sigma Xi Lecture
October 2009: Professor Jabarin presented the 2009 Dion D. Raftopoulos/Sigma Xi Outstanding Research Award Lecture. In the photo, Professor Jabarin receives the award and $1,500 check from Sigma Xi President Professor Frederick Williams. The award recognizes Professor Jabarin鈥檚 extraordinary contributions to polymeric materials research and integration of these activities into the curriculum.

Chemical Engineering 2nd Most Lucrative Career
July 2009: According to a recent survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, chemical engineering graduates command the second highest salary of all college graduates. Rohan Labde receives Best Poster Award at PINO 2009
July 2009: Doctoral candidate Rohan Labde received a certificate and $100 award for the Best Poster Presentation at the 2009 meeting of Polymer and Chemical Engineering Innovation Northwest Ohio (PINO). His poster was entitled "PET Pristine MMT Nanocomposite". Rohan's advisor is Professor Saleh A. Jabarin.

Professor Escobar co-editor of Sustainable Water for the Future
July 2009: A new book co-edited by Professor Isabel Escobar and her colleague Professor Andrea Sch盲fer (University of Edinburgh) entitled "Sustainable Water for the Future: Water Recycling versus Desalination" has an expected publication date of December 2009. Faculty receive Third Frontier Funding for biofuel research
June 2009: SuGanit Systems and 淫妻社 researchers jointly received a grant of $999,900 from the Third Frontier Commission鈥檚 Advanced Energy Program of the State of Ohio to support their work on 鈥淪cale up of Cellulosic Ethanol Process Based on Novel Biomass Pretreatment and Efficient Co-Fermentation,鈥 Professor Sasidhar Varanasi is the 淫妻社 PI. Professors Connie Schall, Patty Relue (BIOE), and Jared Anderson (CHEM) are co-PIs.

May 2009: Professor Steve LeBlanc was selected by his peers to become a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) in recognition of his professional accomplishments and contributions. Fellow is the highest AIChE membership grade.
