The College of Law generally permits a certain number of absences per course that the professor includes in the syllabus and it varies based on how many credit hours the course is.聽 For example, usually for 3 credit hour courses, a student can have 4 absences a semester.聽 Those absences can be for any reason and the student doesn鈥檛 have to provide a reason.聽 If a student goes over the permitted absences, the student may be administratively withdrawn from the class.聽 If a student gets to the point where they are going to go over their permitted absences due to extenuating circumstances, they should reach out to Law Student Affairs to discuss.

The College of Medicine requires an Excused Absence Request Form to request an absence from an examination, quiz, required lecture, small group, laboratory, or a聽or other mandatory course activity in the preclinical years (MS1 and MS2).

For students in the PharmD program, the maximum number of permissible absences in a course is at the discretion of the individual faculty member. Please check your student handbook for more details.
