Dr. Long is a three-time alum from the ÒùÆÞÉç, graduating with her Ph.D. in Counselor Education in 2018. Dr. Long is an independently licensed clinical counselor and supervisor (LPCC-S) in Ohio. She has treated children, adolescents, and adults, presenting with a wide range of clinical concerns. Dr. Long has completed specialized training in wellness counseling (CWC), cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), the safe and sound protocol (SSP), and is nationally certified in trauma-forced cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

Dr. Long’s scholarship focuses on holistic wellness in counseling with an emphasis on best practice. Other lines of inquiry include the neurodiversity paradigm, companion animal grief, using various qualitative research methods to examine meaning-making across different phenomena. Dr. Long is published in peer-reviewed journals such in the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, Journal of Counseling and Development, The Family Journal, and Psychology of Violence. She has also authored and co-authored several books chapters related to social class, neuroeducation, neurodiversity, climate crisis, and other issues relevant to counseling practice. Dr. Long also serves on the editorial boards for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision’s Teaching Practice Briefs.
